Chauncey Leslie hit a short bank shot with 14-seconds remaining as the Iowa Hawkeyes edged Valparaiso 62-60 in the opening round of the N-I-T. Leslie says they were looking to get the ball into the post, but Valpo didn’t stop his drive, so he took it to the bucket. Iowa coach Steve Alford says they hoped to get a ball screen on the Leslie game winner, and Jared Reiner was covered, and Leslie made the shot.Alford says it was an even matchup all the way and both teams really battled. Iowa will face the winner of the Iowa State/Wichita State game Wednesday.
