A Waterloo lawyer is facing charges for allegedly offering legal services in exchange for sex. 61-year-old John Ackerman of Cedar Falls has been charged with prostitution and assault. Waterloo police received information on Ackerman and set up surveillance. Ackerman allegedly offered to give a woman a one thousand dollar discount on his services if she performed a sexual act. Ackerman had previously had his law license suspended on an unrelated case. He was also reprimanded in 1990 by the Iowa Supreme Court for receiving payment from a client and then getting reimbursement from the state for the same case.
