Federal investigators continue to look for the cause of the deadly weekend crash of a Civil Air Patrol plane in eastern Iowa’s Keokuk County. The Cessna 182 took off from the Ankeny Airport on Saturday afternoon and crashed near North English during a routine training flight. The instructor-pilot, 55-year-old chaplain Major Christie Battle of Des Moines, was killed. The pilot, 52-year-old Lieutenant James Johnson of Oskaloosa, was injured but has since been released from University Hospitals in Iowa City. The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the U-S Air Force and conducts operations involving search and rescue, education and cadet programs.
