A former military barracks at the Sioux Gateway airport was destroyed by fire early this morning despite the efforts of Sioux City and airport firefighters. Assistant Sioux City Fire Chief Brad Robinson says the firefighters from the crash crew of the airport were already fighting the fire by the time his crews arrived. Robinson says the building was three-quarters involved by the time they arrived. There’s no word on the cause of the fire or any damage estimates. It’s also not know what was in the building.
