More Iowa service people are shipping out today. Overseeing prisoners of war will be the active duty assignment for the 186th Military Police Company of Johnston. The 124 M-P reservists already got their callup notification, and have been at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, for final training and mobilization orders. While commanders don’t give many details of assignments, they have said the 186th will serve under CentCom, the U-S Central Command that’s directing the war in the Persian Gulf. To date, nearly 38-hundred National Guard and Reserve members from Iowa have been called to active duty, and while almost none have left the country yet, officers say very soon many of the mobilized units will leave, headed for duty stations.
