A racetrack proposed by the U-S Motorsports Entertainment Corporation for Newton may’ve been stalled by the Newton City Council last night. The company’s C-E-O and President Paul Schlock asked the city council for a unanimous vote on the proposal to build the track and entertainment facility. The vote was 5-1, with councilman Mike Mueller voting no. Mueller says he’s not against the project, but wants the council to hold the track to the city’s noise standards.Schlock says he’ll have to discuss the vote with his partners before deciding if it kills the Newton track. He says they will build a track somewhere. The city would be obligated to pay for nine million dollars in road and sewer developments if the 30-million dollar 25-thousand seat track and entertainment center is approved.
