An Oelwein woman is facing several charges after a chase and crash with police. It started just after five o’clock last night between Oxford and Williamsburg when a state trooper tried to stop 26-year-old Heather Annis on Interstate 80 after noticing Annis was driving recklessly. The chase headed west 14 miles into Iowa County and ended when Annis crashed into an Iowa County patrol car. Highway Patrol spokesman Lieutenant Rob Hansen says troopers in the field can judge for themselves whether to engage in a chase of this sort. He says the decision worked out well here as they got a dangerous driver off the road, without anyone getting hurt. Annis is in the Iowa County Jail on charges of OWI, eluding and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
