Northeast Iowa residents will say their goodbyes to an area native who died in Iraq during a funeral procession today. 39-year-old Jeffrey Bohr, a Marine gunnery sergeant who was originally from Ossian, died in Iraq on April 10th. Bohr’s funeral will be held in Ossian today, followed by a funeral procession to his wife’s hometown of Cedar Rapids where he’ll be buried. Bohr’s third counsin, Winneshiek County Sheriff Lee Bohr, will lead the procession through northeast Iowa. Elementary students in Ossian will line up along city streets as Bohr’s casket is taken from the funeral home to the church. After the service the procession will proceed to Calmar, where students will line the streets. The procession will continue on to Oelwein where an honor guard will lead a community salute. And another gathering of respect will take place in Independence.
