Three Northern Iowa Panthers have signed free agent N-F-L contracts in the wake of this past weekend’s draft. Placekicker Mackenzie Hoambrecker has signed with the San Diego Chargers. Hoambrecker closed out his U-N-I career last fall with a school-record 59-yard field goal against Southwest Missouri State.Panther coach Mark Farley. Punter Derek Frost has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.Farley says signing as a free agent actually can have advantages over being a late round selection, as players get to pick the team they want that gives them the best chance.Hoambrecker is pleased to have a chance to make the Charger’s roster. He says he feels blessed to get the chance to go to San Diego and compete. Hoambrecker says he will be reporting this week.Offensive lineman Chad Setterstrom signed with New Orleans.
