The leaders of a northwest Iowa school district will be spending time in the courtroom, not the classroom, next week. Some Le Mars Community High School students’ request for a moment of silence at graduation on Sunday, May 25th, is in federal court. Superintendent Todd Wendt told the school board this week he’d been contacted by the American Family Association Center for Law and Policy. Yesterday, school leaders got subpoenas for a hearing in Federal Court in Sioux City on Monday. The hearing is a request for a temporary injunction. The legal action was brought by a group of students against the district and Wendt in his role as superintendent, not individually.
