After serving the last two years as marketing director Jeff Starr has been named the new tournament director of the Allianz Tournament, which is part of the Champions Tour. Starr replaces Kris Kilgard, who left the tournament earlier this month. Starr says while happy with the promotion it was not a complete surprise.Starr began working in golf when he spent three years as the marketing director for the 1999 U.S. Senior Open at the Des Moines Country Club. He says the experience he has gained over the years will help in his new challenge. He says the Senior Open got him tremendous exposure since they were working with fewer staff for that event. Starr says the promotion will bring new challenges, as he will oversee all operations in sales and marketing.This year’s Allianz Championship will be August 18th through the 24th at the Glen Oaks Country Club in Des Moines.
