A popular summer basketball league gets set to begin with several new attractions for public over the next couple of months. The Prime Time League in Iowa City features pro, college and prep players and is always popular with Iowa Hawkeye fans. Even more so this year, according to League Director Randy Larson, who says Hawk fans will get their first look at incoming recruits Nick Dewitz, Ben Rand, Mike Henderson, as well as Iowa State transfer Adam Haluska.Larson says there’s a lot anticipation among fans who want to see the stars play and how well they’ll do. Larson says the league draws interest in part because unlike other sports, basketball is not confined by its traditional season. He says basketball has turned into a year round sport. Tryouts were held last weekend and Larson says a draft on Wednesday will determine the rosters. He says you don’t get into the league unless you get drafted. For the third year the Game Time League will offer competition for women and Larson says that league will hold its draft this evening. Larson says the league provides some arch rivals a chance to be on the same team. Competition in the Game Time League begins Sunday while the Prime Time League will tip-off next Monday.
