Two people were killed and two others were injured in an apparent murder-suicide at a rural Adair County home Sunday evening. Adair County Sheriff Randy Marchant says his office received a 911 call shortly after six p.m. yesterday from one of the victims at the farmhouse six miles northeast of Greenfield. Four people had been shot in what Marchant says may have been a domestic dispute. Two of the victims died, and two others were life-flighted to Des Moines hospitals. Marchant declined to name the victims. But a family spokesperson, Sharon Pitsenbarger, says her sister-in-law, Amanda Dougherty, and Dougherty’s mother, Cheryl Wright, were in stable condition at separate hospitals. Pitsenbarger says Amanda’s husband, Troy, and the couple’s young daughter were also in the home at the time of the shooting. Marchant declined to confirm that Troy Dougherty and the couple’s young girl were dead.
