Now’s apparently a great time to buy a house in the Hawkeye State. A new federal report details the prices Americans are paying for their houses and compares them to last year with state-by-state breakdowns. Those with the highest increase in prices rank at the top of the list — and Iowa’s near the very bottom, at 48th. Home prices in Iowa only rose about two-and-a-half percent between the first quarter of this year and last year. Among some of our other Midwestern neighbors, Minnesota’s home prices rose the highest, more than seven percent, while Nebraska’s rose the least at only two-point-two percent, ranking Nebraska 50th. The numbers are from the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight.
