Another Iowa National Guard unit’s being called to federal active duty. The Iowa Guard says 40 officers and soldiers from the 109th aviation battalion in Boone are currently completing their processing at Camp Dodge in Johnston before shipping out for Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. The soldiers will leave Wisconsin July 7th for the Persian Gulf where they will supervise the repair and maintenance of army aircraft. It’s the first time this detachment has been called to active duty.
