Lewis Central’s Lee Toole was the latest Iowa high school baseball coach to reach a milestone as he recorded his 500th career victory over the weekend. Toole has been in coaching 21-years and says being a summer sport baseball takes a special commitment, not only from the coaches but the players as well. He says Iowa High School baseball is pure. it’s a sport that takes a different breed of coach and kid because of the commitment in the summer time.Toole won a state championship while coaching at Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson and says there are no immediate plans to get out of coaching. He says baseball has been the love of his life for a long time, and as long as people want him to coach, he’s going to do it. Toole has been in coaching for 21 years and is 43 years-old and says he has a few years left. Toole says his oldest son is a sophomore and he thought about getting out of coach to watch him, and now his younger son is asking if he’ll coach him.
