Joey Woody says his training will heat up as he prepares for the World Track and Field Championships in Paris later this summer. The former Northern Iowa standout made the U.S. squad by finishing third in the 400-hurdles at the U.S. Championships over the weekend in Sacramento. Woody says his immediate plans are to go back to Europe in the next couple of weeks to get some races in. He says after that he’ll come back and train for two or three weeks to compete at the championships. Woody has been to the World Championships before and says his experience should help him get ready. He says he has to put in five to six weeks of competition to get ready, which is a lot different from what you do in college. The World Championships are August 23rd through the 31st.
