Success on the field is translating into more fans in the seats at Iowa State and Iowa. After a third consecutive bowl trip last season, Cyclone ticket manager David Crum says season ticket sales at I-S-U are running well ahead of last year. Crum says 20,000 season tickets have already been sold, and he says season ticket sales could reach nearly 25,000. Crum says these days it is important to try and lure fans out of their living rooms as even more games become televised. Crum says it is more of a challenge to sell season tickets when so many games are televised. He says they promote the “game day atmosphere” in the stadium that fans can’t experience at home. Single game tickets are available for every game, except the matchup with Iowa. Crum says any tickets left for that game will go on sale later in the month. The Cyclones open the season at home on August 30th against Northern Iowa. Iowa is coming off a surprising season that included an Orange Bowl trip. Hawkeye ticket manager David Sandstrum says despite an increase in prices, he expects the season ticket base to grow.Sandstrum predicts they’ll sell about 31,000 season tickets for games in Kinnick Stadium. Nearly every Iowa game was on television last year and this upcoming season could be no different. However, Sandstrum does not feel that has a major impact on ticket sales. Sandstrum says the excitement of a game can’t be replicated at home. He describes it as a big fair, an event that happens only seven times a year. Sandstrum says there are other ticket packages available for fans who cannot commit to season tickets. Those who can’t make a committment to seven games can buy a three-game pack. Iowa’s season opener is at home August 30th against Miami of Ohio.
