An escaped prisoner from the Linn County Jail has been caught. Cedar Rapids police responded to a family disturbance call at a residence about 7:30 last night and found 34-year-old Thomas Brydon of Cedar Rapids. He allegedly used a 250-pound laundry cart to knock down a door at the jail and escaped on Tuesday. Brydon had been jailed on a charge of assault with a weapon after an incident with a knife at Palisades Park. Brydon has a history of run-ins with the law. Over the past 16 years he’s been in jail 35 times with 88 various charges filed against him. His laundry cart break out was the first successful escape from the jail since it opened in 1984. Brydon faces new charges of escape and criminal mischief for damage to the jail door.
