Eighth grade pitcher Courtney Strang will try to lead seventh rated Solon to the class 2A title. They battle 5th ranked Carlisle. In class 3A second ranked North Scott bids for a second consecutive title against a fourth ranked West Des Moines Valley team that upended top ranked Cedar Rapids Jefferson Thursday night. The Tigers will look to avenge a regular season loss to the Lancers.Earlier today in the class 1A consolation long-time West Marshall coach Jim Stiert ended his career on a winning note after a 1-0 win over Underwood in the seventh place game. Stiert bean his coaching career at the school on the baseball diamond. He says he found it was easier for softball because you don’t have to walk as far to put out the bases. It was the fith time he led the school to the state tournament.
