Nathan Chandler hopes his one and only season as the starting quarterback at Iowa can approach the level of success as his predecessor. In 2002, Brad Banks led the Hawks to a record breaking 11-win season and finished as the runner-up in the Heisman Trophy balloting. He says he’s not going to try and be Banks as they’re totally different quarterbacks. He says he’s just going to go out and do the best he can. Chandler says while looking forward to the season he does not feel pressure to duplicate Banks’ performance, but he says he’s motivated to do well after watching Banks be successful. He says the desire to win though is his biggest motivation. Chandler looks forward to directing an offense which lured him out of Pasadena Junior College as a recruit. He says he likes the pro-style offense and that they run the ball first as that’s the best thing for the passing game.Iowa opens the season August 30th at home against Miami of Ohio.
