An Ames businessman known for his unique inventions will showcase his latest one at an arm wrestling tournament in Nevada on Saturday. “World Championship Armwrestling ” is sanctioning the tournament which will feature “The Enforcer”. Developed by Cactus Jack Barringer, the arm wrestling machine is eight and a half feet tall, nine feet long and six feet wide and will allow the wrestlers to compete without their usual arguments over technique and hand position. He says normal arm wrestling is about 60 percent technique, knowing ways to take advantage of the other guy. He says his machine eliminates that problem. Contestants hold a lever similar to a handlebar and “The Enforcer” measures each competitor’s strength. Barringer says the setup allows for team competition. He says it allows two people to go against two others, and it lets a left hander wrestle a right hander. Competition runs Saturday afternoon, and is for men and women. Barringer hopes to take his machine and the sport to television and has discussed ideas for a TV series with several cable channels.
