The family of a dead Sioux County man wants a new prosecutor for a murder case that’s set to be tried next month. Dick Post died at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley in April of last year. A former employee at the home, 27-year-old Christine Van Oort of Rock Valley, is accused of his murder. Post’s family has asked that the Iowa Attorney General’s office rather than the County Attorney try the case so there’s a “zealous prosecution.” Earlier this month, the Sioux County Attorney dropped murder charges against the former nursing home worker in connection with another death at the home. The Sioux County Sheriff says he agrees with the family that their loved one’s murder case be switched to the state Attorney General, and he said his investigation into both deaths continues — as does the search for other residents of the nursing home who may have been murdered.
