Law officers say a special traffic enforcement operation along the Interstate 80 and 35 corridors Thursday netted thousands of violations. The initial report from the effort that included state, county and local law officers shows they tallied over 11-hundred speeding tickets, 233 seat belt violations and three drunk driving arrests. The report says officers also found 45 drivers with suspended or revoked driver’s licenses or no license at all. There were hundreds of other traffic violations and over one hundred people who failed to have proof of insurance in their vehicles. Officers say the goal of the special enforcement action was to get more people to use their seatbelts, while also reducing the number of accidents and impaired drivers on the road.
