A state trooper’s going home today after more than a month in the hospital following a crash while he was on duty. Aaron Williams was patrolling Highway 29 just south of I-80 in Poweshiek County on July 29th, when an oncoming driver made a left turn in front of him. Lieutenant Rob Hansen with the State Patrol says Williams was to leave the hospital today (Wednesday) and continue his recovery at home.Williams has serious injuries to one arm and a leg and it’ll take physical therapy and a lot of patience before he can get back to 100-percent and resume work. Williams suffered some very serious injuries in the near-head-on crash and there’s no timeline set for his return to work at the Patrol.Hansen says they’ll leave that up to Williams and let him take the time he needs to heal before making the decision. Trooper Williams was undergoing treatment at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
