It’s a special day in Fairfield. Maharishi University of Management celebrates “Founder’s Day” with a special emphasis on its current philosophy. It’s 30 years since Parsons College closed, and just a few years later a famous figure in the pop culture of the time took over the small campus in Fairfield, opening Maharishi University. The “Management” title was added just a few years ago, but the school’s always emphasized higher consciousness, meditation, levitation, and efforts to bring about world peace through combining the efforts of many true believers. The day began with a group meditation and after presentations from academic leaders, local officials and the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi himself, this afternoon will feature a demonstration of so-called yogic “flying.”
