If the most important statistic in football is turnovers, Morningside is the perfect example. The Mustangs have put up good numbers the first two weeks but coach Steve Ryan says his team made too many mistakes in losses to nationally-ranked Hastings and Northwestern. He says they won the game in terms of yardage, but have had nine turnovers in two games. Ryan says the Mustangs have a lot of talent but need to learn how to win. Morningside plays at Dana of Nebraska on Saturday. Ryan says Dana has a new head coach but many of the same players from last year’s team which edged the Mustangs in a shootout. He says it was a crazy game last year and they still run several receivers and throw the ball a lot.
