There has been no problem for Iowa State coach Dan McCarney to get his Cyclones to take Northern Illinois seriously. The Huskies opened the season by stunning Maryland, beat Alabama last weekend and take the nation’s number-22 ranking into Saturday’s matchup in DeKalb. McCarney says the attention came real quick when they beat Maryland, so it wasn’t any surprise that they beat Alabama. With a tough Big-12 slate ahead McCarney says this would be a big game for the Cyclones to win. He says they’re going in letting it all hang out, and he says it’ll be the first time for N-I-U to let it all hang out. McCarney says while much of the attention has focused on the Cyclones’ struggling ground game McCarney says he has been very pleased with the play of the defense.
