Another case of meningitis is reported in northeast Iowa. A five-year-old boy in the Amish community in rural Buchanan County was reportedly taken to a Waterloo hospital for treatment of bacterial meningitis. Officials say the boy, who has not been identified, is showing improvement, but remains very ill. The latest case is the fourth case of meningitis in the last two weeks in northeast Iowa. The other three cases were in Black Hawk County. Two of the people died, 20-year-old Elizabeth Huddleson, a U-N-I student, and 29-year-old Wendy Wyant, an inmate at the Black Hawk County jail. 20-year-old Caleb Twito, a Hawkeye Community College student, remains hospitalized in critical condition, but officials say he has shown some improvement.
