A Rock Rapids man was killed in a two-vehicle accident south of Cherokee on Thursday afternoon. The state patrol says the accident happened shortly after noon. Seventy-six-year-old Willard Vanhorn of Rock Rapids was eastbound on C-44. He entered the intersection with highway 59 and was struck by a northbound truck driven by 55-year-old Steven Grayson of Paulina. Vanhorn was killed in the crash. Grayson was taken to Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee, where he was treated for minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation. The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Cherokee ambulance and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department.
