The latest crop report shows the combines are moving through the Iowa fields at a good pace. The state Agriculture Department report says over 84 percent of the soybeans in the state are in the bin. That’s ahead of last year’s mark of 58 percent and six days ahead of the five-year average of 67 percent harvested. The corn harvest is not as far along as the beans — but with 31 percent harvested — it’s well ahead of last year’s 20 percent mark at this point. Overall it’s two days behind the five-year average that shows 35 percent of the corn is normally harvested by this time of the year.
