Investigators are looking for the culprit in a “maze-blaze” near Clear Lake. Jack Kennedy owns the two-acre wooden Fort Custer Maze that’s just off Interstate 35 near Clear Lake. He says someone spotted the fire — or the entire thing could’ve burned down. He says the person was driving over the interstate and saw the fire and then stopped at Kennedy’s house and they called the fire department and put it out quickly. Kennedy says there was minimal damage. He says there isn’t any electricity or anything else that could’ve caught fire — which leads investigators to believe the fire was intentionally set.He says the assistant fire marshal believes the fire was set by someone. Kennedy says part of the maze was open Saturday evening. Over Halloween they have a haunted maze that the Clear Lake wrestling group is using as a fundraiser. Kennedy says it normally takes about 45 minutes to go through the whole maze, but the haunted maze is only a portion of the whole structure. He says officials don’t have any suspects at this point. The maze will shut down for the year after Halloween.
