Democratic presidential candidate Dick Gephardt says rival Howard Dean is “no better than George Bush” when it comes to health care policy. Gephardt delivered a speech in Des Moines earlier this afternoon.Gephardt accuses Dean of favoring Republican plans to limit the growth of Medicare spending. Gephardt says on a wide range of Medicare issues, there is very little difference between George Bush and Howard Dean. Dean’s campaign staff says Dean is the only candidate in the race who has delivered health care reform as he took steps while he was Vermont’s Governor to insure nearly every child and help the elderly get cheaper prescription drugs. Dean’s running advertisements which criticize Gephardt and other members of Congress for failing to enact the benefits they now advocate as presidential candidates.
