The four Iowans injured in Sunday’s attack on a U.S. helicopter in Iraq are being treated for their wounds in Germany. The twin-engine Chinook helicopter carried 36 soldiers. 16 were killed when a missile hit the chopper in central Iraq and it crashed. Among the 20 survivors, 16 were airlifted to a U.S. military hospital in Germany for treatment of injuries ranging from head injuries to broken bones. It’s believed all four Iowans are among the 16 taken to Germany. They’re from the Davenport-based Detachment One, Company F, 106th Aviation unit. No names have been released. The unit has about 90 soldiers and was mobilized in February. About 34-hundred Iowa Guard members and Reservists are on active duty, some 24-hundred are in Iraq, Kuwait or Afghanistan. Five Iowans in uniform have died since March.
