Saying America is committed to help rebuild Iraq, President Bush is expected to sign the 87-billion dollar Iraq aid package today. The measure passed the Senate on a voice vote, which some view as controversial as Senators weren’t on record being for or against the huge spending bill — at least in that final vote. Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, a Democrat, says he sees nothing wrong with how the vote was taken. Harkin says everyone’s already on record from previous votes on the bill — he voted against it. The aid package includes cash to cover U.S. military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, plus funds for Iraqi reconstruction.
