The winner of tomorrow’s Iowa-Minnesota football game gains possession of a bronze trophy modeled after a pig that lived, and died, some 60 years ago. Floyd of Rosedale was a black-and-white Hampshire boar awarded by Minnesota Governor Floyd Olson to the winner of the 1935 game. The pig was won by the Gophers, and eventually sold to a farmer living northwest of Mable near the Iowa border. Floyd of Rosedale died in 1936. The father of 85-year-old Donald Gjerdrum buried the pig near some pine trees on the farm. In the series, the Gophers have won Floyd 38 times in 67 tries.
