Iowa State coach Dan McCarney suffered through some lean years when he first took over at Iowa State, but calls this his toughest season. After three consecutive bowl games the Cyclones are 2-8 and still in search of their first Big-12 win heading into this week’s game at Kansas. McCarney says they’re used to winning and says since that’s not happening, they’re putting in some time working on it.McCarney says all the aspects of program will be looked at to try and get the program back into bowl contention. He says they want to find out what they can do better so they don’t have another season like this one. McCarney says despite the losses, it’s still a better situation than what he stepped into after taking over a team that had gone 0-10-1 the season before. McCarney says any changes he makes on the coaching staff won’t be made until the season is complete. He says he was an assistant for 19 years and always wanted the head coach to have confidence in him, and he says that’s what his staff is working towards. McCarney says there are tough decisions to be made every day.
