Tom Davis coached his last game at Iowa back in March of 1999 and he has not been in Carver-Hawkeye Arena since. He returns for the first time as the visiting coach when the first year Drake coach leads his Bulldogs against the Hawkeyes tomorrow night. Davis says he was made to feel welcome, but he just didn’t feel like it was the right thing to go back. He says for a lot of reasons staying apart from it was the right thing to do. While he tried to stay in the background Steve Alford said Davis was supportive with his letters and phone calls. He says he just wanted him to know he was there if he was needed, but wanted to stay in the background.
