He posted a 62-15 record in seven seasons but Rich Kacmarynski has resigned as the head football coach at Central College. In a release, Kacmarynski said he doesn’t believe he’s the person to lead the program in the direction it needs to go.Athletic Director Al Dorenkamp says it’s always surprising when a good young coach decides to back away. He says it’s not a good day for Central, but they will honor his decision. Under Kacmarynski the Dutch won four Iowa Conference titles and earned four division-three playoff berths. This last season was a major disappointment. Central finished 5-5 which snapped a string of 42 consecutive winning seasons. Dorenkamp does not feel this past season was the reason Kacmarynski decided to resign. He says for the last couple of years Kacmarynski has been exploring career options and what he wants to do. Dorenkamp anticipates a lot of interest in the job. He says there isn’t a big rebuilding job to do, and he says they’ll look for someone who can come in and help keep the great tradition going.
