Mother Nature appears to be right on track to keep her annual appointment with winter here in the Hawkeye State. The National Weather Service meteorologist Gary Forster is predicting a low front from Colorado will bring snow into the state tonight.He says it looks like most of the state will get some snow, with the least in the northwest, or along the northern border in far northeast Iowa. Forster says the commute home this afternoon shouldn’t be hampered much by the snow .Forster says the heaviest snow will fall between nine tonight and three tomorrow morning, with the most snow, three-to-five-inches falling in a line from Fort Dodge to Ames on to Oskaloosa and Ottumwa. He says the northwest, southwest and eastern parts of the state will likely get less snow in the one to two inch range. This will be the first measurable snowfall for the majority of the state, and Forster says it’s right on time when you look at history.He says we’ve frequently had snow before this, but the averages say the first snowfall is usually the 2nd of December. Forster says the snow could cause some problems for the morning commute. He says the current temperatures are not real cold on the ground, but he says if we get a lot of snow it could make the roads slippery and make it a little tricky to drive.
