A Storm Lake woman was killed and two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident near the Cherokee-Buena Vista County line Thursday morning. The state patrol says 21-year-old Ana Iris Henriquez of Storm Lake lost control of her van on the ice-covered roadway. The vehicle entered the south ditch, where it flipped onto its top. Henriquez was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened at 9:45 Thursday morning about a quarter mile west of the county line in Cherokee County. A three-year-old passenger, Jousy Henriquez of Storm Lake, was seriously injured in the crash. The youngster was taken by ambulance to the Storm Lake airport, then lifeflighted to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City in critical condition. Another passenger, 37-year-old Salvador Rivera of Storm Lake, received minor injuries and sought medical treatment on his own. The state patrol says the van was totalled. The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Buena Vista and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Departments.
