Jeff Horner’s three pointer bounced off the rim just before the buzzer as Iowa’s late rally against Wisconsin came up short in a 54-52 loss in Iowa City. Iowa coach Steve Alford says it was just like the Indiana game, coming down to the last shot. he says he told Horner that’s sports, sometimes you make the shots, sometimes you don’t. The Hawkeyes had trailed by eight with four minutes remaining and got the chance to win it after rebounding a Badger miss with ten seconds left. Alford elected to not call a time out. He says they wanted to play it out without letting Wisconsin set up to defend them. They fall to 5-5 in the Big Ten……..Iowa State fell behind Kansas State 9-0 at the outset and it got worse from there. The Cyclones suffered their 21st consecutive Big-12 road loss, a 90-59 blowout at Kansas State. A performance that left Cyclone coach Wayne Morgan fuming. He said on his post game show on the Cyclone Network,”We’re really embarrassed by the performance we put forth today. Our effort was horrible.” Morgan says from himself down to his managers he’s embarrassed by their performance.Senior center Jackson Vroman says the Cyclones need to find some answers before Saturday’s game against Texas. Vroman says they have to put it behind them and realize that was not them out there. He says if they don’t improve, they’ll be embarrassed by Texas too.Drake fell on the road to Valley leader Southern Illinois 96-76. Bulldog coach Tom Davis says the Salukis played liked the 23rd ranked team. He says sometimes teams let down when they ranked, but this team didn’t. He says they came out fired up and ready to go.Davis says a vocal Saluki crowd provided a big home court advantage. He says the crowd was negative in some ways, but he says that’s what crowds do. He says they were the best crowd in the league for intimidating the officials and his team.
