Hazardous materials teams were scrambled again last night in central Iowa for the second time this week. Authorities are still waiting on lab tests to determine if there’s any danger in the brown powder found in a letter about 6 Thursday night at the Des Moines office of Communications Data Services. About a dozen employees were put in quarantine. Initial tests results indicate the powder is -not- hazardous. On Monday, the C-D-S office in Boone got a threatening letter that contained what was later determined to be baking soda. A suspect is charged in that case, a New Jersey man who reportedly says he’s a worshiper of Saddam Hussein. It’s still unclear if this latest incident in Des Moines is related to the Boone case.
