An energy analyst with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the cost of the fuels used to heat our homes held steady in the last month. Jennifer Moehlmann says one of the main fuels has actually fallen below what it cost last year. She says propane held steady from a month ago, heating oil went up two cents, while natural gas is actually cheaper. She says we seemed to have hit a peak for natural gas and it is at five dollars and forty cents per B-T-U. But Moehlmann says the drop in the price of natural gas comes too late to help your wallet this winter. She says the higher prices early in the year will lead to heating bills for natural gas that’re 10 to 30-percent more this year than last year.
