The Patriot Bank of Brooklyn in east-central Iowa collapsed last night, but the assets of the bank are all intact. Bank vice president Jack Arndt says it was a structural, not a monetary collapse. He says he doesn’t know if it’s due to the rain or the wind, but a corner of the building caved in. Arndt says there is good news. He says there was nobody in the bank, so nobody was hurt. He says all the financial records are secure, as he’s been in and looked at them. He says they have some experts coming in to secure the site and see what they can do to be up and running again Monday. In the meantime, he says bank customers can use the Deep River Branch. The Patriot Bank is building a new building right next door to the old building, which may make cleanup a little tougher, as the new construction area is right next to the old building.
