A Cedar Rapids man picked the wrong Amish home to break into in eastern Iowa. A Buchanan County deputy was called to a report of a burglary at an Amish home just west of Hazelton. After getting a description of the suspect’s car, the vehicle was stopped about two miles from the scene. The officer found a box of “Ho-Ho’s” and Hostess Cinnamon Crumb Cakes taken from the home, along with chemicals used to make methamphetamine. The driver, 35-year-old Robert McKiernan of Cedar Rapids was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of meth precursors, third degree burglary, theft, trespassing and other charges. Deputies noted that the only telephone within a two mile radius of the break-in was a pay phone located in the victim’s front yard.
