The NCAA Tournament hopes of Iowa State and Iowa were all but ended today as both lost in their respective conference tournaments. Iowa State rallied from a 13-point deficit at one point to tie the game at 59-59 , but lost to the seventh-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys 83-75 in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Tournament in Dallas. Jackson Vroman had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the eighth-seeded Cyclones who finish 17-12. Jake Sullivan added 19 points, and Jared Homan collected 13 points. Iowa pulled out to an early 14-4 lead over Michigan, but the Wolverines stormed back to down Iowa 83-75 in the Big ten Tourney. Iowa coach Steve Alford says Michigan switched to a zone defense and they didn’t react very well. Pierre Pierce led Iowa with 28 points 23 in the second half, but Iowa could only pull within four points. Brody Boyd had 13, Jeff Horner and Jeff Bruner each had 10. Iowa and Iowa State now hope for a bid to the NIT Tournament, and could possibly see a rematch of their last NIT meeting.
