Mike DeGeorge hopes to make the Cornell College mens’ basketball team a consistent winner. DeGeorge has spent the past four seasons at Eureka College in Illinois and sees his new job as a great challenge.DeGorge took Eureka from a two-and-23 record in his first season to a 17-10 record this year. He takes over a Rams program that has posted just one winning season since joining the Iowa Conference back in 1997. He says the first thing is to establish proper habits, then you bring quality kids into the program. He says it’s a long process that won’t happen overnight.DeGeorge has also been an assistant coach at three different schools and says he has been taught by outstanding coaches. DeGeorge says the experience he gained as a head coach has been invaluable because it is nothing like being an assistant. He says when the loss goes on your record, it really changes your perspective. Cornell was 9-17 and 6-10 in the Iowa Conference this past season, the final one for former coach Ed Timm.
