Jury selection is underway today in the trial of a Waterloo man accused of killing his infant son. James Tate Junior is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his four-mounth old son Skylar. The infant died in January of 2003 while in his father’s care. Authorities allege Tate dropped his son, then shook the infant in an effort to revive him. Tate has pleaded innocent to the murder charge. His trial is expected to last about four weeks in Black Hawk County District Curt.
