The recent killings of two horses on opposite ends of Iowa are under investigation. The first horse was found dead March 30th at a farm near Remson in northwest Iowa’s Plymouth County. Then, last week, another horse was found killed at a farm in eastern Iowa’s Muscatine County near Moscow. In both cases, the animals had their throats slashed, in straight cuts one-to-two feet long and six-to-eight inches deep. Authorities acknowledge the cuts are NOT consistent with what an attacking animal, like a cougar, would inflict. As yet, no arrests have been made, no motives are clear and deputies in both counties say it’s unlikely the cases are related — but add — it’s always possible, given the similarities.
